The Surf Experience was founded in 1993 and is located in the south west of Portugal. The Algarve is right in front of AFRICA! This gives us a good year round climate and more sun shine days than most of the rest of Europe. Water temp almost never drops below 16 C. Situated near the renowned, deceptively quaint town of Lagos, The Surf Experience offers a surfing holiday unrivaled anywhere in Europe. It´s a unique taste of the surfer lifestyle!

The surf beaches are surrounded by immense and breathtaking scenery, with no building developments and tourist hoards. Get ready to breathe a little dirt as the roads to some of the beaches are crazy!!! Wave size and quality ranges from average to epic with an assortment of reefs and beachbreaks. The beauty of surfing this corner of the world is that there is a variety of waves for surfers of all levels.

The Camp:
The Surf Experience is a family affair and staying at Villa Catarina is the perfect opportunity to participate in surf-culture on all levels. Run by the Lipke family you are instantly made to feel at home and Conni will amaze you with her zest for life! Never tired of meeting new people, she is always happy to help and her famed kitchen skills must be tasted to be believed.

Dagos' passion for finding the best waves and intimate knowledge of the coast ensures you get to surf in the best possible conditions. Dago will work hard to ensure you make the most of your time and he his expertise has benefited many people. None more so then Marlon, the oldest of two sons.

Marlon entered the ASP record books at the 2005 O'Neill Deep Blue Open making history
as the first ever German to advance to the last 16 of a 6 star ASP WQS event.

At 21 years old, Marlon is already a four-times German Champion and 2004 European Junior Champion. Although he is often traveling he enjoys nothing more then surfing at home with his younger brother, Melvin. Sixteen year old Melvin is about to follow in his brothers footsteps. Already the Portuguese under 14 Champion, his ability to surf is only matched to his ability to make everybody laugh. The boys have individual characters but share the same championship drive. Surfing with these boys is truly a Surf Experience to remember!

The accomodation:
Located in the southwest of Portugal, The Surf Experience surfcamp is in a unique position to offer two coasts for surfing. Depending on the wind conditions and direction of the swell, the days conditions are evaluated and the best spot found. Ranging from impressively consistent beachbreaks to some top class reefs. Daily 'surfaris' reveal the beautiful, often barren, coastlines that make this part of Europe so special.

Villa Catarina is surrounded by lush gardens featuring a swimming pool, sauna and a football/volleyball pitch. The villa contains three double bedrooms, one of which is also available as a special "Honeymoon Suite". In addition, there is a three bed apartment and two wooden cabins amongst the trees for a real Thailand or Bali feel.

All rooms are of the highest standard and have their own bathrooms. The luxurious villa has a large living-room with a TV, video, stereo and pool table to ensure a relaxing environment for everybody after a hard day at the beach! As many guests have found out leaving can be very difficult and return visits are common.
